Hope for the Future – Next Generation Sunday

We are so excited to celebrate Next Generation Sunday at Tyner UMC with our students and children helping to lead our worship service! This was an awesome opportunity to have the generations united in worship. Director of Student Ministries Josh Derrick shared a message about empowering the next generation of believers titled “Hope for the Future.” Tyner UMC is confident that God is working in this place to give us a future better than we could even imagine! We’d love for you to be a part of that future!

What God Can Do

Thank you for joining us for worship! This week, Pastor Ty Harrison was out of town, so Student Min. Director Josh Derrick delivered a message about the vision and future of Tyner UMC titled “What God Can Do.”

On Eagle’s Wings – Part 2

Deuteronomy 32 New International Version (NIV)

11 like an eagle that stirs up its nest
    and hovers over its young,
that spreads its wings to catch them
    and carries them aloft.

Isaiah 40 New International Version (NIV)

30 Even youths grow tired and weary,
    and young men stumble and fall;
31 but those who hope in the Lord
    will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
    they will run and not grow weary,
    they will walk and not be faint.

Teach the Children Well

Sermon scripture: Deuteronomy 6:20-25, Mark 10:13-16
Deuteronomy 6:20-25
20 In the future, when your son asks you, “What is the meaning of the stipulations, decrees and laws the Lord our God has commanded you?”
21 tell him: “We were slaves of Pharaoh in Egypt, but the Lord brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand.
22 Before our eyes the Lord sent signs and wonders—great and terrible—on Egypt and Pharaoh and his whole household.
23 But he brought us out from there to bring us in and give us the land he promised on oath to our ancestors.
24 The Lord commanded us to obey all these decrees and to fear the Lord our God, so that we might always prosper and be kept alive, as is the case today.
25 And if we are careful to obey all this law before the Lord our God, as he has commanded us, that will be our righteousness.”

Mark 10:13-16
13 People were bringing little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them, but the disciples rebuked them. 14 When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.
15 Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.”
16 And he took the children in his arms, placed his hands on them and blessed them.
