OUR VISION

In 2020, we began to follow God's leading into a new vision for our church. We spent the previous two years in a time of prayer, study, and seeking the leading of God. We are excited about the present ministries at Tyner and are faithfully expectant about the future God has in store. Our vision statement summarizes this vision in the image to the right. Join us in praying for the courage, discernment, and boldness to follow Jesus.

Our Values

OUR VALUES

Our core values, the beliefs and actions essential to our life as a church, include these six aspects: a Biblical focus and a commitment to Discipleship, Fellowship, Worship, Mission, and Evangelism. These values are built on the centrality of Christ and the truth of His life-changing love. These six principles are described above under the values heading.

OUR MISSION

Our church is going through a time of change as we look towards the future with our vision, but our mission remains unchanged. Jesus' commands to us still stand the same. A vision provides our next faithful step, in light of our mission. God has called us to be in relationship with Him, to nurture that relationship, to love Him, and to show His love to others so that all may come to know Him. Our church's official mission statement is in the image to the right.

Our Mission

OUR HISTORY

Our roots go deep at Tyner United Methodist Church. We have been blessed with a history of serving in ministry for over 175 years.

The church can trace its history all the way back to 1844. The church began at a different location than it now exists and had more than one location between the two. In the more than 175 years since its beginning, Tyner has gone through countless name, facility, and staff changes. At one point in our history, the church was burned down by arsonists during the Civil War.

Many changes, evolutions, struggles, and celebrations are threaded throughout our history. However, our dedication to the Lord remains steadfast. To learn more about Tyner's full story, visit the Lila K. Johnson Heritage Center in the church facility.

MEET OUR TEAM

Tyner UMC has a fantastic body of faithful believers that work tirelessly to accomplish the mission of the church. Most of those individuals do so without recognition or thanks. They support the leading and direction of the paid staff working in our congregation.

Thanks to their support, we have the opportunity to have a staff team including multiple full and part-time members. For a bit of information on our paid staff, click the button below.
