Katie was born in Pittsburgh, PA and grew up in Chattanooga. She is the oldest of 6 girls. Katie grew up in church going to Awanas and youth group. At 11, she made the decision at a church revival to place her faith in Jesus for salvation. She was baptized shortly thereafter, along with her mom and one of her sisters.
Katie started as the Preschool Director in July 2019 after she graduated from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga with a degree in Early Childhood Education. She says this about her job as Preschool Director:
“I love working in a church preschool because I believe a Christian foundation is the most important thing you can give to a child. As Proverbs 22:6 says, ‘Train a child in the way he should go. When he is old, he will not turn away from it.’ My absolute favorite part of my job is getting to know our sweet students and their families!”
Katie has attended Tyner UMC since 2009 and also teaches the 2- and 3-year-old Sunday School class and serves as a youth leader for grades 6-12. Katie loves the book Kisses from Katie (not just because of the name!) and the show This Is Us. When Katie isn’t at church you will probably find her with her kids or watching Law and Order.
