Reverend Amanda Dean is a pastor, wife, mother, and lover of God and people. Amanda describes her vocational calling as helping people live more fully into who God has created them to be. She has a heart for serving God by serving others. Amanda is passionate about preaching, engaging in holy conversations, and connecting with people where they are and as they are. Amanda has over 20 years of experience in ministry and has served in a variety of ministry settings from a non-profit mission agency to large local churches. Amanda attended Duke Divinity School and became an Elder in the UMC in 2010.
Throughout her time in ministry, she has served in many different roles in the United Methodist Church. Amanda has extensive experience in preaching, leadership development, staff management and oversight, and visioning and implementation. She is a collaborative leader and values working together as a team to further the mission of Jesus Christ in the world.
Amanda comes to us after serving for 2 years at Ooltewah UMC. She has lived in Chattanooga for the past three years with her husband, Justin Steinmann. Justin works for the City of Chattanooga in the Mayor’s office as the Strategic Capital Planning Manager. Amanda and Justin are parents to one son, Owen, who went to be with Jesus in 2017 after battling a rare and aggressive brain tumor as an infant. They love sharing stories about their young warrior, and are passionate about childhood cancer research and awareness.
Pastor Amanda and Justin are excited to be a part of the Tyner UMC family since July 2021.
