2nd Sunday in Advent
Remember God’s past mercy (vs.1-2):
I will be found by you, declares the Lord, and I will restore your fortunes and gather you from all the nations and all the places where I have driven you, declares the Lord, and I will bring you back to the place from which I sent you into exile. Jeremiah 29:14
Blessed is the one whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered.
Psalm 32:1
Listen carefully to God’s Word (vs.8-13):
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.

And the effect of righteousness will be peace, and the result of righteousness, quietness and trust forever.

A Psalm of Grateful Praise
Acknowledge the Lord: Praise Him alone(vs.1-2):
Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.

not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

Praying in the Spirit
We must pray “in the Spirit”:
In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.
Romans 8:26-27
We must always pray:
Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.
Matthew 7:7
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. Philippians 4:6
We must be watchful in prayer:
Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.

We must pray unselfishly:
And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. Ephesians 6:18
We must pray for leaders in particular:
As for other matters, brothers and sisters, pray for us that the message of the Lord may spread rapidly and be honored, just as it was with you.
